The Mental Health of Unaccompanied Refugee Minors

  • Columbia Law School, JG 101 435 West 116th Street New York, NY, 10027 United States (map)

Mona Bünnemann, a psychologist, and researcher at Bielefeld University in Germany will discuss her experience founding an outpatient-clinic for unaccompanied refugee minors. Notably, unaccompanied refugee minors are subject to different legal processes than accompanied minors and adult refugees. As such, Ms. Bünnemann will also discuss the legal challenges (e.g., applying for asylum or facing deportation) and psychological health problems refugee minors experience.

Non-pizza lunch will be served.

This event is co-sponsored by the Society for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (SIRR), the Columbia Health Law Association (CHLA), and the Columbia Society of International Law (CSIL).
